Religious Education

Religious Eduction Suspended

Cardinal Cupich has canceled, suspended, or postponed all church events through the end of May. This means that Religious Education classes have been canceled, and First Communion and Confirmation have been postponed. Parents should review the last three chapters of student textbooks with their children, as it is unlikely that we will make up our last three scheduled classes for the academic year. Additional resources are available at

The Religious Education Office will reach out to affected families as soon as events are rescheduled.

Please take this opportunity to strengthen your family’s prayer life. There are many resources online for at-home prayer and worship. If you need help locating these resources, e-mail the R.E. Office at:

Please stay healthy and safe.

St. Agnes/St. Kieran Religious Education Program for Catholic Students attending Public Grade Schools

The St. Agnes/St. Kieran Religious Education Program has been established to provide instruction in the Roman Catholic faith to Catholic students enrolled in public schools. Students enrolled in the Religious Education Program must be baptized in the Roman Catholic faith, and a parent/guardian must provide a copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate. Registration in the program is open to all Roman Catholic baptized children who are currently in grades one through eight. Any child transferring to the St. Agnes/St. Kieran Religious Education Program from another parish must complete a transfer information request form, available in our office.

The St. Agnes/St. Kieran Religious Education Program meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., September to April, at St. Agnes School. Tuition is $100.00 per student per year. There is a $25.00 Sacramental Fee per family, for those families with one or more children receiving First Communion or Confirmation.

Faith formation is a life-long process, and studying for the Sacraments is gradual and on-going. The Archdiocese of Chicago requires that Catholic children attending public schools be enrolled in formal Catholic Religious Education classes for eight consecutive years, from grades 1 thru 8, and must show regular consistent attendance at classes. Therefore, students leaving the program after their First Communion year will not be readmitted to the program for Confirmation Preparation, unless they are transferring from another Catholic Religious Education Program.

The St. Agnes/St. Kieran Religious Education Office is located at St. Agnes Church, 1501 Chicago Road, Chicago Heights, Illinois, 60411. For additional information, please call Mrs. Teri Klopp, Coordinator of Religious Education, at 708/754-0713, or send an e-mail to:
